Attack on Titan fans, dedicate your hearts! Welcome to Japan!
Did you know there’s a place where you can experience as if you’ve stepped into the world of “Attack on Titan,” which has stirred your soul? That very place is Hita City, Oita Prefecture, the hometown of the globally acclaimed creator, Hajime Isayama! We’ve carefully selected and will introduce you to special spots where you can physically feel and relive the emotions, excitement, and even the breathing of the characters you felt from the work, right here in the real world!
Oyama Dam
This is a place that symbolizes the very beginning of Attack on Titan. The colossal wall (dam) of Oyama Dam, towering over Hita City, is reminiscent of “Wall Maria,” humanity’s last stronghold in the story. At the spot where you gaze up at that overwhelming wall, statues of young Eren, Mikasa, and Armin stand.
The small figures of the three looking up at the dam wall, which is so tall you have to crane your neck, are just like a scene straight out of the manga or anime. You’re sure to feel goosebumps-inducing emotion, like the despair and shock of first seeing the Colossal Titan. This is the most iconic and emotionally stirring spot to touch upon the origin where the Attack on Titan story began. Capture a deeply memorable photo in your heart along with this magnificent view!

South plaza of Hita Station
Upon arriving at JR Hita Station, the gateway to Hita City, you’ll find the statue of Captain Levi, “Humanity’s Strongest Soldier,” whom many fans long to meet! With his cool and dignified expression and sharp posture, you’re sure to feel your heart pound at the sight of the meticulously crafted Captain, who looks as if he could take flight with his 3D Maneuver Gear at any moment. Exchange salutes with the Captain and capture the best commemorative photo!

Taraibaru Utsukushi Morizukuri Park
Hita City: A Source of Inspiration!
Hita City is not just home to “Attack on Titan” spots; it’s a charming town surrounded by beautiful mountains, clear rivers, and lush forests where creator Hajime Isayama spent his childhood and is said to have drawn inspiration for his work. By walking through the landscapes of Hita, scenes from the story might just come to mind.
This park is reminiscent of the setting where “that tree on the hill,” which appears symbolically in the latter part of the story, is located. Here, there is a tree that was planted as a commemoration by the creator Hajime Isayama himself, and Yuki Kaji, the voice actor for the protagonist Eren Yeager. It is a deeply moving spot for fans, where a significant location from the work intertwines with the feelings of the people who created it—the author and the voice actor.

Forest Adventure OKUHITA
At the nature-integrated outdoor park “Forest Adventure Oku Hita,” a limited-time collaboration with Attack on Titan is underway! The field, stretching 20 meters above the ground and surrounded by trees, is exactly like the “Forest of Giant Trees” itself! The experience of moving through the trees using wires and suspension bridges is just like operating 3D Maneuver Gear and soaring through the forest! Come on! Become a member of the Survey Corps and begin the 57th Expedition Beyond the Walls!

Yakizoba no Soufuren Oyama Branch
Savor Hita Gourmet Loved by the Creator!
Along with visiting Hita’s spots, experiencing the taste of the hometown cuisine loved by the creator, Mr. Isayama, is another unique way for fans to enjoy. While savoring the delicious local gourmet, also feel the warmth of the town where the work was born.
Hita’s famous gourmet dish is the “Hita Yakisoba,” renowned for its meticulous grilling! This exquisite dish features a unique crispy texture, achieved by grilling raw noodles on a griddle instead of steamed noodles. And incredibly, this Oyama branch is a special place for fans, as it’s where Mr. Isayama worked part-time during his high school days! Autographed shikishi from the creator are also displayed inside the restaurant. Be sure to savor Hita’s soul food at this spot filled with memories of the creator’s youth.

Torisen Wakamiya Branch
This is a local favorite set meal and bento shop, popular for Oita’s famous fried chicken and more. This is a restaurant where Mr. Isayama’s childhood friend works, and it has even been featured on the creator’s own blog. Not only is the juicy fried chicken excellent, but the chicken nanban and teriyaki are also exquisite! Mr. Isayama introduced it on his blog, saying, “I tried partially defrosted torisashi for the first time, and it went incredibly well with yuzu kosho! It was amazingly delicious!” This has made it a recommended menu item known among fans. The store also displays autographed shikishi (colored paper) with illustrations by the creator!
